Solar energy in Pakistan.
Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has called an Energy
Conference, Dawn News reported. Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) in its election campaigns
had repeatedly vowed to improve the power situation in the country on a war
footing and had set up a committee in this regard as well. The committee shared
it recommendations in a consolidated report that was presented to PM Sharif
earlier. The recommendations are likely to be shared at the energy conference.
Agreement with China
Earlier
during the visit of Li Keqiang the Chinese Premier and Mian Nawaz Sharif had agreed to reconvene the Pak-China Joint
Working Group on Energy which would discuss various options for helping
Pakistan cope with energy shortages, including nuclear energy. The Chinese
prime minister had also identified energy as a priority area for cooperation. (Dawn

Shahbaz Sharif Decision
In his previous
term The Punjab chief minister directed that a comprehensive plan should be
formulated with regard to utilization of solar energy in government offices,
including the provincial secretariat. He said that the program would initially
start from Lahore , Rawalpindi
and Multan and
would be extended to other cities and towns later. I don’t know what steps
taken after that but he was right in taking the decision to use solar energy,
because Pakistan falls under
the Sun Belt, there is a vast potential for solar energy in Pakistan . Solar energy has
excellent potential in areas of Pakistan
that receive high levels of solar radiation throughout the year. Every day the
country receives an average of about 19 Mega Joules per square meters of solar energy (www.aedb.org).
Cost of solar panels
The cost of solar panels has dropped 80 per cent in
the last five years. The government has also removed all import duties on solar
panels (www.aedb.org). I think I have searched a lot on the net but could not
found any thing special about the solar energy in pakistan.Every one is
planning and planning and planning. You can get more detail of this here http://www.aedb.org/publications/repk.pdf
Chinese offer
I heard that with Chinese help, 1000 megawatts of
solar energy will soon be added to the national grid. This will come mostly
from the Cholistan
Desert , where solar
powered IPP’s are ready to sell power if they get the right rate from NEPRA
(National Electric Power Regulatory Authority). “The solar on-grid megawatts
projects are lined up and waiting for NEPRA to give a tariff. They need to know
at what price to sell electricity to the Government of Pakistan.”
Reason for Delay
NEPRA was supposed to give the rate in February this
year, but they have delayed the decision – perhaps they are waiting for the new
government to form and a new chairman to be appointed.
Energy crises in Pakistan (funny)
Pakistan is in all sort of crisis since its independence. But these days it is facing some serious energy crisis, especially of electricity shortage. The situation is something like this.It means that it comes for a little time and then goes for a long time.
And people think that in future Pakistanis will have clocks like this.
And I have one already
Good news for Pakistanis our City Lahore is selected as the big city of the world.
An aerial view of some big cities of the world
Unfortunately, they took the image at night
The big problem is for students they have to study at night. What they do to study. (see below)
Student and the general public can see this thing in the museum along with some other antiques from Pakistan. A pictorial report
As the situation of electricity is very bleak people are thinking about ways to use the electric poles and lines one is like this.
Some people are trying to solve their problem an Image can describe it better.
Another picture of this effort is
Due to long and continuous load shedding people have seen very interesting incidents. An example is here.
A joke I must share about Ministry of Power
New Federal Minister of Power
People think the most honest person who is performing his duty honestly in the country is one who is the in-charge of Load shedding
Doctors are using Load shedding to their benefit. See what an eye specialist is doing.
oops, I think he got the wrong answer. Anyway, some People associated with Family planning department has been benefitted by it.
but people are not ready to give credit to them
How a newly born child realized that he is born in Pakistan .a bit funny hannn.
Due to long load shedding UPS are not working. But this is not a problem in Pakistan.
see how?
In the end some lines from our poets
In the last poem about it
Will you believe it or not I have made more than ten attempts to complete this in-between load shedding.
Misbah ul Haq
Misbah ul Haq is the 29th test captain of Pakistan cricket team .M Hafeez is 30th now.
Imran Khan (48)Javed Miandad (34)Inzamam-ul-Haq(31)and Wasim Akram (25) has captained more matches than his 23 and 24 if he captained the second test in UAE too.
Out of these 23/24 matches, he has not played even a single match on home ground.
Even then he won 11/23 matches as compared to Imran Khan 14/48 and Miandad 14/34 and Inzamam 11/31.
Away (home of opposition) or neutral venue stats show that no Pakistani captain has won more away matches than Misbah. He won 11/23 matches as compared to Imran khan 5/26, Inzamam-ul-Haq 5/17 Wasim Akram 7/17 and Waqar Younis 7/13
He has the best Win/loss ration at Away or neutral venues among captains who captained Pakistan in at least 10 away matches. Also in terms of per cent of matches lost he has a far better result than others who has captained Pakistan in at least 10 away matches.
Misbah is fourth on the list scoring most runs as captain for Pakistan but he has played fewer matches and fewer innings than others. Among the players who scored 1000 or more runs, he has the best average.
