Retired Government Employees issue
The Supreme Court has clearly ordered to remove all official from the government post who has crossed the maximum age for retirement. But in many institutions they are still working I don’t know that they are not aware of the court orders or they don’t understand them.
PESHAWAR, Feb 26: Many government employees who have crossed the age of superannuation are still working on key posts in the public sector universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in violation of the Supreme Court verdict concerning re-employment of retired officials. (Dawn)
These retired employees reappointed on contract in grade-20 and 21 have been serving mostly on administrative posts. “Even vice-chancellors of certain universities have crossed the age of superannuation and these also include the Vice Chancellor of University of Peshawar (UoP) Prof Azmat Hayat and Vice Chancellor of Hazara University Syed Sakhawat” (Dawn)
The government has appointed their own person in different departments and still, there are many retired generals and brigadiers working who were appointed by gen. Musharaf.
Currently, five retired officers in grade-20 are serving on administrative posts in the UoP and eight retired superintendents in grade-17 and 16 who have been given extensions.
The University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Peshawar, also has several retired employees on key positions.
The sources said that Hazara University had recruited around 20 retired employees mostly in grade-20 and 21.
President of Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) Dr Fida Mohammad condemned the administrations of the universities for keeping retired employees on key posts. He demanded of the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to take notice of a large number of retired employees serving in the public sector universities. (Dawn)
This is not only the situation of these universities only this situation prevails in all the departments. I think that there should be a forum in which the public should tell the court or any of the public figure about a retired person so that they take up the matter.
